Jake in Ecuador

Jake sent us the attached video of some painting he did with his missionary companion for a church member's home in Ecuador....included in the video is some footage of their lunch.

The video is....uh....interesting.

I don't think Campbell's would sell much of this kind of soup here in the USA. But then again, I'm a vegetarian...except for steaks, hamburgers, sausages, chicken and turkey.

Jake is doing great and as you will see, continues to have his sense of humor.

7.5 months down

We love you Jake.

This one is for Jake...

Hey Playa,

Dad here...

I just want you to know how proud I am of you. We all expect our young men to be worthy and go on missions yet at the same time it breaks our hearts to see you leave and spend two years away from us. Your weekly emails keep our spirits high and know that we look forward to them more than anything.

We have been blessed to have you and Alec be able to enter into the mission field. Improbably, your missions are right next to one another - how wonderful is that? The people of Peru and Ecuador are fortunate to have had you and your brother tred their dusty streets and roads to talk of our Savior...to show them, through your good works, the love of Christ.

Your sacrifice of two years of your life to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of Ecuador is a testament to your faith, your love of the Gospel, and the goodness in your big beautiful heart. I will forever be grateful of your example, of your goodness, and of your sense of humor.

Jake, I know it was difficult to leave us...to leave Amy, yet you left us with a heart brimming with faith and with the knowledge that your life, and the life of your family will be blessed for your service - for your sacrifice.

I hope your dreams come true with "that" girl. Amy means the world to us too. We admire her commitment and her dedication to school and personal growth while you are away.

Keep working hard Jake....focus on your mission...know that all is well at home. Know that we think of you each day. We miss you. We love you. We know you are where you should be right now.

Love,
Dad

P.S. Remember to keep your head on a swivel.
